Samia pledges nationwide electrification

CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential running mate, Ms Samia Suluhu Hassan, has said that the whole country will be electrified in the next two years should they be voted into the top office during October general election.
Speaking to a public rally here, Ms Hassan said the fourth phase government has done a commendable job in electricity, therefore they will make sure they reach the remaining people in remote areas.
“We assure you that the whole nation will be enjoying electricity in the next two years, vote for Dr John Magufuli and be ready to enjoy development opportunities,” she said As for the elders, she said, a census will be conducted to identify them as they are planning to start giving them a monthly pension to meet their basic requirements.
“We are all heading towards being elders and after realising this we need to support this group, we want to come up with a special scheme for them,” said the presidential running mate. Ms Suluhu pledged to bring to an end the problem of wild animals destroying their farms and eating their agricultural products.
“We know that wild animals have been destroying your crops, together with the municipality and the responsible authorities, we shall make sure that the problem come to an end,” she pledged.
On food vendors and other people conducting unofficial business, they will come up with an authority that will register them and see how best they will be fitting in the official system, so that it can be easy to support them. She said they will take into consideration the water, health and infrastructure challenges and improve them.
Meanwhile, Ms Hassan has assured Gairo residents of water extraction machines so that they can be able to access clean and safe water.
Addressing a public rally here yesterday, the presidential running mate said that the machines are expected to be delivered in the next four months to extract salt water and turn it into pure water fit for human consumption.
She also used the platform to send condolences to Tanzanians following the death of pilgrims in Mecca and Morogoro residents following the death of public service minister, Ms Celina Kombani.
She also underscored the need for voters, especially youth, to tap the economic empowerment opportunity within the East African community (EAC).
She said should they be given mandate to lead the next government, they have sound plans to ensure that empowerment projects are implemented for a good cause.
“Some people are saying youth unemployment is a time bomb, we are saying they are a useful resource for economic development, that is why we are set to empower them,” she said.
She said 40 per cent of youth will be employed in the formal and informal sector during the first five years of their leadership term as they focus for an industrial economy. She used the rally to welcome back five Chadema members who defected to CCM.
She disqualified as baseless reports that thousands of CCM supporters in Mtama have defected to the opposition, saying the membership cards displayed by the opposition are still new, which means they are not genuine.
